Computer Skills for the 21st Century Instructor: Mrs. Donna Doherty
Students will identify their abilities, aptitudes, and personal interests and learn how this self-awareness can help them reach their goals for a successful post-secondary experience. Students will explore career options and post-secondary educational and work opportunities. Each student is required to participate in a career shadowing experience. Job acquisition skills, job retention skills, personal finance and entrepreneurship as a future career option will also be explored. A student portfolio/personal Wiki space will be developed throughout the course.
Advanced Placement Computer Science A
The course will develop programming skills using the Java language. The course is intended for all students who intend to major in Computer Science at the university level. The course prepares students to take the required A.P. Computer Science Exam Part A.
This course includes a study of analytic geometry,functions, limits, differentiation, applications of derivatives, integration, applications of integration,volumes of solids and transcendental functions. This course will also focus on the use of technology (graphing calculator and web-based content) in mathematics.
This course is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement BC Calculus Exam. This course includes a study of differentiation, applications of derivatives, integration, and applications of integration. Functions (linear, polynomial, exponential, trigonometric, transcendental, parametric, polar and vector) will be examined in great detail. Slope fields, series and convergence, Euler’s method, L’Hopital’s Rule and improper integrals are also included in this version of calculus.
